Why Dreamworks Is Destined to Fail

by Elijah Varner
Back in the early 2010's, I had actually believed that Dreamworks could make decent movie. Kung Fu Panda(the first), How to Train Your Dragon(the first), Monsters vs. Aliens and Puss in Boots were all back-to-back, great movies. But, recently after that, they had me convinced they just couldn't do it. They lost the magic, the imagination and the creativity to make good stories. Think about what has come out since then. In this order, here it is, Madagascar 3, Rise of the Guardians, The Croods, Turbo, Mr. Peabody and Sherman, How to Train Your Dragon 2, Penguins of Madagascar, Home, Kung Fu Panda 3, and Trolls. Now, not all of these movies are horrible, but they lack the epic proportions of the other four. I'm pointing especially at the last three. Anyone in their right mind should scorn these movies. And if that wasn't bad enough, they're making even worse movies. In the next three years, check out what's coming:
-Boss Baby, March 2017: Exactly what it sounds like. A baby who carries a briefcase and has a lot of money.
-Captain Underpants, June: Oh, for the love of--
-Larrikins, February 2018: Other that having the stupidest name in the entire world, it's a musical about a bilby who gets kicked out of his parents' house. How millennial can you get?
-How to Train Your Dragon 3, May 2018: Yeah! Toothless vaporized our leader! Dragons and Vikings forever!
-Shadows, 2019: Not sure what this one's about
-Shrek 5 2019/2020: But, wait, what?
Yeah, as you can see, it doesn't look good for Dreamworks right now. Hopefully one day the human race will wake up and realize that crotch kicks and slow motions scenes aren't what makes a good movie. They do have some more interesting projects whose dates have been unannounced, like Puss in Boots 2, a Voltron movie, among others. The only question is, can Dreamworks even make a good movie anymore?
